Is is always exciting to see when Bangalore and Kolkata face off each other, and today's game was a perfect example of the same. Bangalore held their nerves and defeated Kolkata in a low scoring thriller. Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Batting first, Kolkata got off to a poor start as they kept losing wickets. They had half of their side back in the dressing room for just 67 runs in seven overs. None of the batters were able to stay long enough at the crease. Andre Russell tried to get some runs, but he too was sent back at a score of 25. He hit three sixes in 18 balls to get some momentum to Kolkata's innings. Umesh Yadav, in the end, also played a few good shots to help Kolkata reach 128.
Wanindu Hasaranga took four wickets in the match, conceding just 20 runs. Harshal Patel was economical too as he conceded just 11 runs with two wickets in four overs. Akash Deep also picked three wickets but he conceded 45 runs in 3.5 overs.
In the chase, Bangalore did not have a good start. They lost their top three batters for just 17 runs. David Willey and Sherfane Rutherford then stabilized the innings. Both looked comfortable before David Willey was dismissed by Sunil Narine for 18 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed then scored a few quick and important runs for Bangalore.
Tim Southee then changed the momentum of the match by taking the wicket of well set Rutherford on 28 in 40 balls. He then took another wicket of Wanindu Hasaranga in the same over. However, Harshal Patel and Dinesh Karthik held their nerves to take Bangalore over the line. The fans were quick to react on Twitter.
