Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has said that Pakistan Super League is the second-best league in the world. Vaughan compared the league with the Indian T20 league and said that PSL is not far away from the Indian league. The first season of PSL was played in 2016 in the United Arab Emirates. For the first two seasons, the tournament had five teams from Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and Lahore.
Multan was added to the tournament ahead of the third season in 2018. Since then, six teams compete for the PSL trophy. In the Indian T20 league, eight teams from Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad compete for the trophy. For the coming season, two new teams from Ahmedabad and Lucknow are added to the tournament.
Meanwhile, the 2005 Ashes-winning skipper has said that the level of cricket in PSL is outstanding.
"Pakistan Super league is the 2nd best T20 Tournament in the World .. it’s not far off the IPL either .. Outstanding standard of cricket .. #Pakistan #PSL," the 2005 Ashes-winning skipper tweeted.
