The second-string Indian team is currently in Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series. It would be played from 13th July to 25th July and it consists of three ODIs and as many T20Is.

The Indian squad in Sri Lanka will be led by Shikhar Dhawan while Rahul Dravid will coach the team. These changes had to be made as the main Team led by Virat Kohli is in England for a five-match Test series, starting August 4.

Many players who are part of the new-look Indian team will have the chance of getting selected for the T20 World Cup. It would all depend on their performance in Sri Lanka.

To date, the Indian side has won four out of five games in Sri Lanka. They have enjoyed a good record against Sri Lanka and would hope to continue the tradition. Some of the top bowling performances of Team India in the T20I series against Sri Lanka is as follow:

Ashok Dinda (4/19) and Irfan Pathan (3/27) in 2012

Former Indian pace bowler Ashok Dinda holds the best bowling figures in Sri Lanka. He took four wickets for just 19 runs in a T20I match in Pallekele in August 2012.

The Indian team was defending a target of 156 runs to secure a win in the match. Ashok Dinda had played an important role in helping India win the match. He claimed two important middle-order wickets before running through the tail. After Irfan Pathan helped the team get a good start, Dinda joined in to take more wickets. They kept the pressure on the Lankans throughout the match.

Irfan Pathan had taken 3 wickets for 27 runs during the match. Thereby, he received the Player of the Match trophy. He took important wickets of Dilshan (0), Upul Tharanga (5), and Mahela Jayawardene (26).

Dinda took the important wicket of Angelo Mathews (31) with a pitched-up delivery. After that, he got Dinesh Chandimal caught at long-off for just seven runs. Chandimal mistimed the full delivery and got dismissed.
