The decision to not include me in Brisbane was the right one: Kuldeep Yadav

Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav opines that the management executed the right plan of not including him in the fourth Test match. Many believed that Kuldeep Yadav might get to play the last game as he had picked up a five-wicket haul in his previous Test Down Under. Team India had a flurry of injuries ahead of the final Test against Australia in Brisbane. India's key bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja all were out in the final match. It looked like this would be the perfect chance for Kuldeep Yadav as he was the team's most experienced bowler.

India's key bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja were all out in the final match. It looked like this would be the perfect chance for Kuldeep Yadav as he was the team's most experienced bowler.

However, several questions were raised when the management went in with four fast bowlers. Team India handed over Test debuts to all-rounder Washington Sundar and pacer T Natarajan for the ultimate clash. Kuldeep Yadav, in a discussion, explained why not playing at Brisbane was the right decision. The pitch in Gabba was going to best the pacers, and hence the team management decided to go with four-seamers. On the other hand, with the all-round ability, Sundar maintained the much-needed balance. India's decision to go with all inexperienced bowlers was heavily criticised, initially. However, the bowling unit proved the detractors right.

When you have Ashwin and Jadeja, it is not easy to get into the team: Kuldeep Yadav

Yadav understood that team management had to give priority to the balance of the team. The 26-year-old mentioned that with experienced players like Ashwin and Jadeja, it is challenging to be the playing XI.

Kuldeep Yadav's might finally get an opportunity in the upcoming four-match Test series against England. The series between the top-notch team is going to begin from February 5 in Chennai. Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the first two Tests. His absence might pave the way for Yadav as he could play as the second specialist spinner alongside Ashwin. Yadav has featured in three Tests in India and has picked up 14 wickets. It will be interesting to see if the southpaw can create an impact for Team India on their home ground.
