Chennai Super Kings pacer Deepak Chahar believes that skipper MS Dhoni will be back to his best once the competition resumes. After the retirement of Mahendra Singh Dhoni from international cricket, the cricket fanatics wish to see him play with more freedom in the IPL. However, this has not been the case so far, as the CSK skipper has been struggling to score runs. In 2020, Dhoni had the worst season as he managed just 200 runs from 14 games. This has been the lowest number of runs he has scored in an IPL season. In 2021, he was indeed spot on with his leadership, but with the willow, he was silent. In the 7 games that CSK played in the first half of IPL 2021, Dhoni managed to score only 37 runs at an average of 12.33.

CSK is ranked second in the points table with 5 wins from 7 matches

In the 13th IPL season, Deepak Chahar was one of the most successful bowlers for the Chennai Super Kings. The young pacer kept things tight in the powerplay overs by bowling three overs in a row. Deepak Chahar praised MS Dhoni for the amount of trust he has shown in him during his 4-year stay with the Yellow Army. He also pointed out Dhoni's ability to utilize the players to the best of their abilities.

In IPL 2021, Deepak Chahar picked up 8 wickets in 7 matches and played a crucial role in CSK dominating the points table. Deepak Chahar's best spell in the 14th IPL season was undoubtedly the one against Punjab Kings. In that match, he picked up four wickets in the first six overs to keep Punjab Kings below 130. However, after that, the Board of Control for Cricket in India decided to suspend the tournament due to a rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the IPL's bio-bubble. CSK is now ranked second in the points table with 5 wins from 7 matches. The second half of IPL 2021 is anticipated to commence in mid-September this year. As far as the shortest format of the games is concerned, Chahar has featured in only 13 games for India. Talking about IPL, Deepak Chahar has featured in 55 matches. He has scalped 53 wickets at a decent economy of 7.67.
