Senior batsman Shikhar Dhawan claimed that his team's match against SRH should not have gone down to a Super Over finish. Delhi Capitals had made the utmost effort despite scoring 159/4 on a slow Chennai surface. New Zealand star batsman Kane Williamson scored 66* off 51 deliveries and helped SRH to remain in the contest. In fact, 16 runs were required off the final over, which was bowled by Kagiso Rabada. However, the Proteas pacer couldn't defend it.
Jagadeesha Suchith, who made his debut for SRH, played an essential cameo of 6-ball 14 to add the finishing touches for his team. SRH equaled the score for the loss of 7 wickets. Williamson again walked in along with David Warner in the Super Over. Kane managed a boundary, but SRH could post only an 8-run target for Delhi Capitals. Dhawan and Rishabh Pant took the game to the last delivery again but managed to win the match with a single off the last ball.
Kane Williamson had missed the first three games for SRH, but he bounced back to make an immediate impact. With 82 runs from two games on rigid surfaces at Chennai, he is yet to be dismissed in the competition.
With 4 wins in five games, Delhi Capitals have moved to the 2nd spot
Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw gave Delhi Capitals a solid start once again. Dhawan slammed 28 runs off 26 balls and partnered for 81 runs with Prithvi Shaw for the first wicket. Once the two opening batsmen departed quickly, Rishabh Pant (37) then formed a 58-run partnership with Steve Smith (34*).
In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their skipper David Warner too early. The Australian batsman could only score 6 runs. Kane Williamson then partnered for 28 runs each with Jonny Bairstow (38) and Virat Singh (4). In a strong performance, New Zealand skipper Williamson kept batting with the middle-order and then lower middle-order but just could not take his side over the line. With 4 wins in five games, Delhi Capitals have now moved to the 2nd spot in the points table. Sunrisers Hyderabad is placed seventh on the 8-team points table. Chennai Super Kings are currently leading the table with 8 points. David Warner and the team will now play against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad on April 27th.
