The star English batter Moeen Ali has reached the mark of 3,000 runs and 200 wickets during the second day of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia at Old Trafford. The great all-rounder became the 16th player to achieve this milestone in the history of cricket. The 36-year-old possesses an impressive feat to be proud of, as he became the fourth player from his country to surpass 3,000 runs and 200 wickets.
It would make my family proud: Ali
"To get the double would mean a lot to me, but my dad is the one who is buzzing for it so hopefully I can get there. I know it's only 20-odd runs, but it feels like miles off. I hope it happens and I know it would make my family proud, and when I look back at my career, 200 wickets are one thing I can be proud about," Ali said, before the start of the Game.
Meanwhile, the home team wiped out Australia for 317 in 90. 2 overs in the first session owing to Chris Woakes' five-wicket haul. The lethal pacer took off David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, and Alex Carey. The right-arm seamer took the final wicket on Day 2 to put an end to Australia's first innings, dismissing Josh Hazlewood (4) as they started from 299/8. Meanwhile, the star bowler Mitchell Starc remained unbeaten with 36 runs off of 93 balls.
Later, while chasing in reply to Australia's first innings score of 317 at Old Trafford in Manchester, the home team recorded 61/1 during lunchtime on Day 2 of the fourth Ashes Series. They are going to resume batting in their second session, trailing by 256 runs. Notably, Zak Crawley (26*) and Moeen Ali (31*) will resume the innings after lunch. Notably, English opener Ben Duckett (1*) was dismissed by Australian star pacer Mitchell Starc early in the innings, but the duo of Crawley and Ali later established a solid stand on Day 2.
