Veteran Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar feels that the ongoing ICC World Test Championship is going to end in a draw. Earlier, the ICC had declared that if the match results in a draw or a tie, both the teams will be crowned as joint winners. Additionally, there will be allocation of a Reserve Day to make up for any lost time during the regular days of the Final. All these decisions were made in June 2018, before the inception of the ICC World Test Championship.

While speaking to AajTak, Sunil Gavaskar highlighted that both India and New Zealand could play another Test as WTC Final after a gap of 3-4 days as both the sides will be present in England.

NZ is trailing by 116 runs, and India requiring 8 wickets before they can bat again

Rain once again interrupted Day 4 of the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) in Southampton on Monday. In the WTC final, only 141.1 overs have been bowled in the match so far. With only two days remaining, it is impossible to complete the remaining quota of 308.5 overs. On day five, New Zealand will resume their batting on 101-2. New Zealand got off to a brilliant start. Opening batsmen Tom Latham and Devon Conway added 70 runs for the first wicket. Earlier, the kiwis bowled out India for 217 to take the upper hand. Skipper Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor will be looking to push for a decent first-innings lead when the play starts.

Meanwhile, New Zealand is trailing by 116 runs, and India requiring eight wickets before they can bat again. In the first innings, India was bundled out for 217 as Kyle Jamieson picked up five wickets. The weather-hit game in southern England still has a reserve day to make up for the lost time. As three innings are yet to be completed, the draw looks like the most likely result in Southampton. The decision to host the ICC WTC Final in England has received severe criticism.
