RCB is the IPL group yet to win the trophy since its origin in 2008, alongside the Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab. It is an unmistakable difference for the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians. Both these teams have won the IPL trophy multiple times.

However, RCB finished IPL as runners up on three seasons: 2009, 2011 and 2016.

In 2008, Rahul Dravid led RCB. Kevin Pietersen and Anil Kumble led the team in 2009/2010, Daniel Vettori in 2011 and 2012. After that, Virat Kohli accepted the role of captaincy for the team. Despite failure as the skipper of the team, he has led the Indian group to victories in numerous matches and is, as of now, one of the highest level Indian batsmen in all cricket formats. Since October 2017, he has been the top-ranked ODI batsman. This appeared by his records in white ball. He has scored 11867 runs in 248 ODIs at an average of 59.34. He has 43 centuries in his name. His average in tests and T20Is is more than 50 which shows his mastery in cricket.

RCB has a talented and experienced crew for IPL 2020 including AB De Villiers, Dale Steyn, Moeen Ali, Aaron Finch, and Chris Morris. These are the foreign members along with the Indian talents boosting their skills such as Shivam Dube, Parthiv Patel, Navdeep Saini, Umesh Yadav, Washington Sundar, and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Virat Kohli was on an intensely hot form during the period of 2016 as the group wrapped up the tournament as runners up. He smashed 973 runs at an average of 81.08 in just 16 matches. It was the greatest total record of any player in 2016. He won the orange cap after hitting four centuries and seven fifties that year.

In IPL 2020, RCB and the fans trust that Virat repeats his performance. The group is hoping to lay their hands on the trophy for the first time.
