The most consistent teams in the IPL

IPL has completed 12 seasons and BCCI is trying its best to make the 13th season a success. From IPL's first match in 2008, we have been seeing many team combinations, team captains, performances. But what is clear from the stats is that we can call only one as consistent.

Many factors decide the consistency of a team, but the most important of them all is the winning percentage. The winning percentage is the percent of matches won out of the total matches played.

Let’s look at the most consistent team in the IPL history: Chennai Super Kings.

Highest winning percentage

Chennai is regarded as the actual king of the IPL, and the biggest reason is its high winning percentage which is 61.5. The Super Kings have played 165 matches in 12 seasons of IPL and won 100 of them. 100 wins in IPL is the record for most wins after Mumbai Indians. CSK was suspended from IPL for 2 years, otherwise, the stats would have been more strong and assuring.

Consistent team performance

The consistency can also be seen because CSK is the only team in IPL history to make it to every playoff. It has played the most no. of finals out of which it has won 3. The reason for CSK’s consistency is their captain, MS Dhoni. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK had a stable team line-up. Their best performing players are:

1. Dwayne Bravo:  The dynamic all-rounder has recently become the only cricketer in history to take 500 T20 wickets. He has played 134 matches and took 147 wickets. He has an ideal strike rate of 128.28 and an average of 23.17 scoring 1483 runs.
   
2. MS Dhoni: The former Indian captain has taken this side to win the IPL 3 times with an impressive performance by the bat and behind the wickets. His calm and strategic captaincy is renowned in the world.
   
3. Suresh Raina: Raina is no doubt the backbone of CSK’s batting order. Suresh Raina has the most no. of IPL appearances. Raina played 193 matches and scores a lump sum of 5368 runs with an amazing strike rate of 140 and an average of 33.34. He holds many IPL records.
   
4.  Ravichandran Ashwin: He is the leading wicket-taker of the team and has the 3rd best economy in the IPL (6.79). He is also a capable all-rounder.

Different players who have added to the group's prosperity are Michael Hussey, who scored the primary century for CSK and has the best batting normal for the side; Murali Vijay has been the opening batsmen for Chennai for a long time and scored 2 centuries.

The CSK administration has heavily invested in the experienced players. CSK is no doubt the most experienced team in IPL history. The factors responsible for success are the coaches, support staff, and the enormous fan base.
