Former Indian captain, Virat Kohli is, currently, plying his trade for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. Kohli has been in sensational form with the bat and the franchise would be wanting to him continue in the same fashion. He started off the season with a match-winning unbeaten knock of 82 runs in 49 balls at a strike rate of 167.
He brought up second half-century of the season against Lucknow Super Giants. Opening the batting, Kohli played a stellar knock of 61 runs in 44 balls, helping the team reach a gigantic score of 212 runs on the board. In the next match against Delhi Capitals, the 34-year-old hit another half-century for the team off just 33 balls.
In the important clash against CSK, Virat Kohli, unfortunately, got out cheaply and the team, eventually, lost the game. RCB have played five matches and managed to secure two wins, thus far. For them to reach the playoffs from here, Virat Kohli needs to keep scoring runs consistently as RCB middle order hasn’t looked formidable this season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are set to play their next match against Punjab Kings in Mohali and the former would be wanting Virat to play another match-winning knock. Meanwhile, in an interaction on Jio Cinema, Virat Kohli labelled AB de Villiers and Lasith Malinga as the ‘GOATS’ of Indian Premier League.
Notably, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have played together for a number of years for RCB in IPL. The duo has helped RCB win matches with a number of sensational knocks.
Notably, AB de Villiers is the second highest run-scorer for RCB in the history of the league. He is, overall, the sixth highest run-scorer in the league. In 184 appearances, the South African batter has 5162 runs to his name at an average of 39.70.
Lasith Malinga, on the other hand, has the third most number of wickets in the league. He has played 122 matches in IPL, picking 170 wickets at an average of 19.
Here's a look at how fans reacted to Virat Kohli' 'GOAT' remark:
