The suspension of the 14th season of the IPL turned out to be a good thing for Indian fast bowler T Natarajan. The Tamil Nadu pacer picked up a knee injury during the Australia series. Natarajan impressed the selectors after his performance for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2020 Indian Premier League. The Indian team management then took him in the national squad for the Australian tour. The 30-year-old made his international debut in all three formats of the game during the tour of Australia. T Natarajan even featured in the famous Gabba Test and claimed three crucial wickets.
Natarajan to miss the fifth season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League
After playing a couple of matches for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 14th season of IPL, the left-arm seamer pulled out of the tournament to undergo surgery. After his exit, the second wave of coronavirus took a brutal toll on the tournament. It is known that the second phase of the league is going to take place in UAE, and Natarajan is expected to regain his fitness by then.
The second leg of the Indian Premier League is going to start in September, just ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup. T Natarajan is targeting a return to the field in the IPL. While speaking to the New Indian Express, the speedster gave an update on his recovery and informed he would soon return bowling with full fitness. Currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for rehabilitation, Natarajan is going to miss the fifth season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (July 19-August 15).
Following the rescheduled IPL 2021, the Indian cricket team will shift its focus on the much-awaited T20 World Cup. The tournament will start October 17 in the UAE. However, T Natarajan isn’t thinking about that right now. Instead, the speedster is focusing on returning to the field as soon as possible.
