The entertainment industry lost a rare gem on Wednesday after Raju Srivastava breathed his last breath in AIIMS Delhi. The Great Indian Laughter Challenge star was 58 when he said goodbye to the world. He had suffered a heart attack on August 10th following which the comedian was admitted to the hospital.

The same day he underwent angioplasty but his condition deteriorated even further and he fell into a coma. His family members were barred from meeting the comedian for many days but hopes were alive for his recovery. At 10:20 AM on Wednesday 21st September however, the legendary comedian was declared dead by the doctors, following a 41-day struggle at the hospital.

His wife Shikha Srivastava who was unconsolable said, "I am not able to talk right now. What can I share or say now? He fought very hard, I was really hoping and praying to see him come out of this. But, that has not happened. All I can say is that he was a true fighter."

Dipoo Srivastava, Raju’s brother confirmed the news with PTI saying, "I got a call from the family about half an hour ago saying he is no more. It is really unfortunate news. He was fighting in the hospital for over 40 days.”

Given the impact, Raju’s comedy had made on everyone’s life many took to social media to pay their condolences. The Cricket fraternity also came together to bid farewell to one of the most important comedians in the country.
