Virat Kohli is currently busy playing the ongoing home ODI series against New Zealand. However, he enjoyed a great start to 2023 as Kohli was the player of the series against the Lankans. However, Apart from him, youngster Shubman Gill has also enjoyed a great run of form with the bat.

In the home ODI series against Sri Lanka, Gill was the second-highest run-scorer. Then, in the first match against the Kiwis, he scored 208 runs off 149 balls. But, it has been observed that Rohit Sharma and team management have faced a lot of headaches when it came to team selection. Regarding that, the former India cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar came up with a unique demand for Virat Kohli.

“He has done that before to Ambati Rayudu once” - Sanjay Manjrekar on Virat Kohli

While talking on Star Sports, Sanjay Manjrekar said that Virat Kohli can bat at number four by sacrificing his place to Shubman Gill. He also insisted that Gill seems to have the ability to handle such pressure at the number three position. He said: "It's going to be still tricky. One guy is going to be really upset. I have got an idea to sort this mess out.”

“Have Shubman Gill bat at No. 3, he seems like he can handle that position, and then Virat Kohli sacrifices his No. 3 for a No. 4. He has done that before to Ambati Rayudu once, many years back against Sri Lanka. So that could be a way to sort it out. Ishan Kishan after his double hundred, left and right-handed combination at the top is not such a bad idea," Sanjay Manjrekar said.

Speaking of Virat Kohli, in the recently concluded Sri Lanka series, he scored two centuries in three matches. So, fans are hoping to see him scoring on a consistent basis for the Men in Blue. Now, both these players will be seen in action again on 21 January 2023 when India will take on the Kiwis in the second ODI in Raipur.
