Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar opines that there should not be any pressure on Shreyas Iyer for his place in the Playing XI. The batsman has always found himself fighting for the no. 4 position. Shreyas Iyer had to bat at no. 5 in the first T20I against England, with Rishabh Pant getting promoted above him in the batting line-up. However, Iyer showcased his talent, smashing 67 runs in 48 balls, but it was not enough for India to win the game. The visitors chased down India's target of 125 runs with 8 wickets in hand to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Shreyas Iyer was the only performer for India in the first T20I game against England. Supporting him to be India's no.4 for T20 World Cup, Bangar praised Iyer's brilliant knock in the first T20 match. He stated that Iyer should not be under pressure in regards to his position in the Indian team. With Suryakumar Yadav also in the brawl to bat at no.4, many believe Iyer's place in the team might be in danger. It remains to be seen what position Yadav will play if handed T20I debut in the ongoing series against England.
