'They are good opponent for us and we will...' - Deepak Chahar opens up ahead of India vs Australia three-match ODI series

Star Indian pacer Deepak Chahar spoke briefly about the importance of the next two days for Team India considering their preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in their own backyard. Chahar said that the management will have to maintain the equilibrium of the pace attack by considering the importance of momentum and rhythm for the pacers.

Notably, Team India will take on Australia in the upcoming three-match home ODI series just ahead of the commencement of the home ODI World Cup. It will be their last chance to gear up their preparations for the upcoming marquee international tournament back home after 12 years since 2011.

Coming back to the statement given by Deepak Chahar, the 31-year-old felt that both the rest and the game are very important for a speedster to maintain his body ready and fit for the big assignments and some major tasks when the team require him.

“I think both (game time and rest) are important. Rest should be given to players but also, they should get to play matches. Rhythm is important. It is great for a player when he is in a good rhythm and you have to carry it forward. We have these 2-3 matches through which we will get good practice. Australia is a good opponent for us and we will get to learn a lot. It is about keeping them fresh and maintaining their rhythm. It should be management's call," said Deepak Chahar to ANI in an exclusive interview.

"He has been bowling brilliantly for the past year." - Deepak Chahar on Mohammed Siraj

Furthermore, he also spoke about the historic Asia Cup 2023 final between India and Sri Lanka, where the star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj completely ripped off the batting lineup of the Islanders. On the back of Siraj’s quickest six-wicket haul, India bundled out the hosts just at the score of 50 runs in 15.2 overs in the first innings.

“I was watching the match, was at a practice. He bowled brilliantly. He has been bowling brilliantly for the past year and so, that is why he is our number-one bowler. We had not won a big tournament for long so it's good we won the Asia Cup. It will give us a huge boost heading into the WC,” Chahar said.
