Qualifier 2 of the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023 produced a historic match between Dindigul Dragons (DD) and Nellai Royal Kings (NRK) on Monday at the Indian Cement Company Ground in Tirunelveli. Royal Kings won the toss and asked Dragons to bat first. DD scored 185 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs.
Later on, they looked comfortable while defending the target when NRK needed 37 runs off the last two overs. But Guruswamy Ajitesh and Rithik Easwaran had other ideas. Both these batters took it to their stride and smashed 33 runs off the 19th over to put them inch closer to a thrilling victory. They chased down the target by scoring 191 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs and entered the final.
The fans were elated following the heroics of Ajitesh and Easwaran and took to Twitter to share their reactions to NRK's win.

Speaking of the match, Shivam Singh played a crucial knock of 76 runs off just 46 balls for Dindigul Dragons in the first innings. Following him, Boopathi Kumar also scored 41 runs to help the team reach a total of 185 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Sonu Yadav scalped two wickets for NRK with Sandeep Warrier, M Poiyamozhi and Lakshay Jain claiming one wicket each.
Later on, while chasing the target, Guruswamy Ajitesh smashed 73 runs off just 44 balls with five boundaries and as many sixes for Royal Kings. He was accompanied till the end by wicketkeeper-batter Easwaran who played a blistering knock of 39 runs off just 11 balls with six sixes to take his side over the line.
NRK will now lock horns in the final against Lyca Koval Kings tomorrow July 12, Wednesday in Tirunelveli. It is yet again expected to be a blockbuster game and provide thorough entertainment to the fans to get their money's worth.
