Star Australian opener David Warner will miss the rest of the second Test match against India due to a concussion. Warner, who was hit on the helmet by Mohammed Siraj, has been subbed by the Australian team and will be replaced by Matthew Renshaw. Renshaw now can bat and bowl in place of Warner in the game and could be a surprise element for the hosts.
Notably, Warner was struck by Siraj in the 10th over of the Australian innings on Day 1 of the match. However, he continued to play and later got struck on his elbow and seemed to be in pain. Warner received prolonged treatment from team doctors but didn’t get any concussion treatment. He didn’t even change his helmet after that bowl as the doctor just verbally discussed the matter. Although, later in the evening Warner, failed a concussion test conducted by team doctors and was subbed by the team.
In a statement, Cricket Australia said, "Warner will now follow the graduated return to sport protocols ahead of the third Test in Indore in line with Cricket Australia guidelines." Notably, Warner’s withdrawal comes in line with his continuous underperformance on the tour. He has an average of 21.78 in Tests in India.
India is in trouble on the second day of the game
Talking about the game, Team India started day 2 from where they left on the opening day of the game. India started from 21 for no loss and lost three wickets in quick succession as Nathan Lyon troubled the Indian top order.
Lyon first trapped KL Rahul in front of the wickets and then struck captain Rohit Sharma’s wickets. He again trapped Cheteshwar Pujara, who is playing his 100th Test match in Delhi. India was immediately three down for just 54 runs in the first hour of the game.
Coming back to David Warner’s concussion case, his replacement didn’t go well with netizens as fans trolled the Australian team for not performing necessary treatment on the field. They also accused Australia of taking the wrong benefits of a medical rule. A Twitter user wrote, “It's naked cheating.”

What concussion... Warner looked more in pain while being hit on arm than he was when ball hit his helmet.... And there is no substitute for arm pain.... This is naked cheating...

Yeh bahut sahi scheme hai yaar. First innings KL ko bolo ek header maar de. 2nd innings mein Gill ya Surya ko khilayenge...
