London Spirit and Birmingham Phoenix locked horns with each other in the 30th game of The Hundred Men's 2022 competition at Lord's in London. The visitors (Phoenix) won the toss and elected to bat first. They had a poor start as Adam Rossington (6) missed the ball and lost his stumps on the 16th ball of the innings. England international Zak Crawley (20) and Australia's Ben McDermott then stitched a partnership of 37 runs.

The former was trapped lbw by Tom Helm on the 52nd ball of the innings with the score reading 50/2. McDermott (36) couldn't make the best of his start as he was caught at extra cover by Chris Benjamin off Moeen Ali. Skipper Eoin Morgan (8) followed two balls later and the team was struggling at 74/4 in 72 balls. Ravi Bopara (45 off 20) provided some momentum to the innings, which was moving at a snail's pace.

He helped the team to reach a total of 139/6. Talking about Spirit's bowling, Tom Helm took four wickets while Kane Richardson and skipper Moeen Ali took one each.

It wasn't an easy win for Phoenix

In reply, the home team fought well with the ball. Liam Dawson took the wicket of Sol Budinger on the second ball of the innings. Two balls later, Dawson cleaned up Will Smeed to keep the opposition at 2/2.

Moeen Ali and Matthew Wade stitched a partnership of 32 runs as they were trying to resurrect the chase. However, the former was caught at mid-on by McDermott off Jordan Thompson. Chris Benjamin (0) became the third victim of Dawson.

Brett D'Oliveira and Wade then stitched a partnership of 44 runs with the latter doing most of the scoring. Brett scored eight before becoming the fourth victim of Dawson. Wade, however, went on to score 81 off 42 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes despite the fall of wickets at the other end. When he got out, the team needed 22 off 16 balls. Kane Richardson's wicket three balls and four runs later made it look like they would lose the game. However, Tanveer Sangha's 13-not-out helped the team to chase the target with one wicket left.
