Max Verstappen of RedBull outlasted the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, who finished second and third, to win the inaugural Miami Grand Prix last year on May 9, 2022. Verstappen, who started third on the grid, easily passed Sainz and seized second place during the first lap.

Verstappen received special treatment when a number of police officers accompanied him to the podium during the trophy ceremony after the race. The Miami Grand Prix was being hyped and celebrated in a novel way by the F1 showrunners, but most fans found the effort to be annoying and cringe-inducing. Meanwhile, F1’s official Twitter account recalled the moment ahead of the 2nd edition of the Miami Grand Prix but many fans didn’t like it.

In the end, it all comes down to racing: Toto Wolff

Toto Wolff, the head of the Mercedes team, thought the 2023 F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix was somewhat dull to watch. He remarked that despite the drivers' extreme pace differential, there were no overtakes. He also encouraged the FIA and the sport to review the sprint race weekend schedule and make adjustments to improve entertainment value and racing proximity.

“There was no overtaking, even with a big pace difference. It made it not great entertainment. We have to analyse the weekend with the sprint format, and whether there are positives we can take out. In the end, it all comes down to racing. It needs the tough battles and I think the highlight you could see yesterday was George and Max being able to battle it out and today there was none of that." Wolff was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

"Even if you were within 0.2 seconds it was very difficult to overtake, it was nearly impossible to overtake unless the other driver makes a mistake. We need to really look at it and how we can make it better. Not how we can make it better, we need to look at how we can avoid just a boring race. I’m not sure that 100m more DRS would have made a difference.” he added.
