Three changes Mumbai need to do to get back to winning ways

The Mumbai franchise is the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian T20 League However, the 2022 season has not been the best for them so far.  They have played four matches in the season and have lost all of them. This situation is not new to them, as they have been in this position in the past as well.

This time, too, they will look for a similar season and bounce back strongly. Rohit Sharma and Co. are slated to play their next game against Punjab on Wednesday, and here are the changes they will have to make to win their first game of the season.

Opener's performances

Mumbai has one of the best opening duos going around in Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. However, this season, they have not delivered their best so far. Kishan has gotten some runs on the board, but he needs convert the starts and stay till the end. Rohit, on the other hand, has gotten good starts, but he has not been able to convert them into big scores. He has only scored 80 runs in four matches. These two will have to give Mumbai solid starts at the top of the order.

Get more wickets

The Mumbai bowlers have not been able to put pressure on the batters, which has allowed them to build partnerships. Tymal Mills is their highest wicket-taker this season, with six wickets in three matches. Jasprit Bumrah has not been much effective either. He has only taken three wickets in the four matches, which are not enough by his standards. The men in blue and gold will have to bowl a lot tighter lines and lengths to take the advantage of the playing condition on offer.

Captaincy decisions

Rohit Sharma is a great captain and a decision-maker, but his tactics haven't worked this season. He has made some calls that have not gotten him the desired results. For example, he used only two overseas players in their last game, which surprised everyone. Rohit also has not used Jasprit Bumrah earlier in the power play. He is their main bowler and can provide early breakthroughs. Rohit will have to be a lot more careful with the decisions he makes going ahead in the tournament.
