Three IPL franchises that can pick Chris Morris

It has not even been two months since the completion of the IPL and the cricket fanatics are already excited for the upcoming season. The 13th edition was eventually suspended twice because of the coronavirus outbreak. Despite all the hurdles, the mega event turned out to be a blockbuster.

Now, the fans cannot wait any longer for BCCI to announce the dates and schedule for the 14th edition of IPL. The new season of the mega league is likely to bring in new surprises. Recently, all IPL franchises have released the list of retained and released players. Some of the names have stunned the fanatics. One name is the South African all-rounder Chris Morris. It looks like that some franchises will be interested in selecting the all-rounder.

Here are three franchise that can pick Chris Morris in the upcoming IPL 2021 auction:

1. Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan based franchise did not have a great season, and thus the side will be looking for a better team combination this year. Their inconsistencies throughout the season led them to the bottom of the table. After two successive wins, there was a series of poor performances as the batting lacked depth.

The main reason was that there was no one to slog the ball after Jofra Archer. As the team lacks all-rounders, the South African all-rounder Chris Morris could fit in the squad.  He can bowl during any stage of the innings, and he is also an excellent fielder. Therefore, Chris Morris can be a great addition to the Rajasthan Royals.

2. Kings XI Punjab

The Mohali-based franchise had a moderate season as they managed to win six games in the league. They ended up on the sixth position on the points table in IPL 2020. The team had a shaky start, but the franchise bounced back more robust in the second half and won five consecutive games.

One of the reasons of their failure was their top order. The side failed to perform as they lacked quality overseas players. For the Punjab team, Chris Morris can be an X factor as he could be the perfect replacement of Jimmy Neesham in the team.

3. Chennai Super Kings

Chennai tasted a rare failure in the just-concluded IPL season. For the first time, the franchise failed to make it to the playoffs. The team recently released a few players from their squad to bring in a few changes. The Dhoni-led franchise can think of including a great all-rounder like Chris Morris. Since the franchise is not left with many options for the all-rounder spot, Morris can be a perfect choice for CSK.

The management has to also fill in a replacement of Shane Watson in the squad. Hence, including Morris in the team can strengthen all the departments for a team like Chennai. Therefore, Morris can be a perfect option for the yellow army.
