Indian pacer S Sreesanth made a stunning comeback in international circuit in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021. In all the five games that he played, S Sreesanth scalped four wickets at an economy rate of 9.88. He was also the third-highest wicket-taker for Kerala this season.
The entire cricket fraternity was in awe of Sreesanth's performance as making a comeback after such a long time is not an easy job. The fast bowler also stated that he has been getting inquiries from IPL teams and would love to be a part of the mega league.
Let us look at a few IPL teams that might pick up S Sreesanth in the 2021 auctions.
1. Chennai Super Kings
With the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League likely to occur in India this season, S Sreesanth will be an advantage considering the slow tracks at the Chepauk. It is a pitch where the pacers will have to rely on their variations and match awareness. Thus, it could be the perfect setup that helps in reviving S Sreesanth's career. However, the pacer will find it to play in the team due to the presence of other players like Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar.
2. Kings XI Punjab
The Mohali-based franchise has no issues in regards to their batting. Their bowling attack, however, is a matter of concern which the franchise will need to strengthen. Mohammad Shami is the only dependable bowler in the squad, and thus, they will need someone to perform alongside him. This is where Sreesanth's addition in the team can be a smart move from team management. Sreesanth had started his IPL journey with the Kings XI Punjab in 2008. He was also the second hight-wicket taker picking up 19 wickets. The pacer can also benefit from Anil Kumble’s presence as he can help him deal with his return to IPL cricket.
3. Rajasthan Royals
This was the team that Sreesanth was a part of before his ban from cricket. Thus, it could be the perfect environment for him to make a comeback. Rajasthan desperately needs an assured Indian fast bowler to complement Jofra Archer in the bowling department. Other Indian pacers like Ankit Rajpoot and Jaydev Unadkat have all proved to be inconsistent for the franchise. Hence, bringing in an experienced bowler in the form of Sreesanth can be a great idea.
