Three non-playing members from the Chennai Super Kings contingent have tested positive for COVID-19. However, the group does not include any players from the team. ESPNCricinfo affirmed the development, with the results emerging from the CSK squad after the latest round of COVID-19 testing on Sunday. According to the sources, Chennai Super Kings chief executive officer Kasi Viswanathan, bowling coach L Balaji and a bus cleaner have tested positive for the virus.

All three members took another test on Monday to rule out the possibility of getting a false positive. The results of which will be available in a few hours. If their results return positive again, then the members will undergo 10 days of mandatory isolation according to the BCCI protocols. It is not still not known if there was any breach in the CSK bio bubble.

Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier tested positive for Covid-19

An official declaration regarding the situation from the authorities is anticipated soon. As of now, Chennai Super Kings is anticipated to play its next match on May 5 against the Rajasthan Royals. Earlier, Two Kolkata Knight Riders players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, have tested positive for Covid-19. According to reports, the KKR players who tested positive did not breach the bio bubble. But they had to go to the hospital to get some checks done, which is probably when they picked up the virus. This has led to the postponement of Monday's match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad. Both the cricketers have been isolated, and they are currently under medical supervision. The positive test results in their camp have prompted the franchise to move to daily rounds of testing to identify any other cases and treat them at the earliest.

This is not the first instance when someone associated with CSK has tested positive for COVID-19. A member from the CSK’s content team had tested positive for COVID-19 last month in Mumbai. Previous year in UAE, several members of the CSK staff, including cricketers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar, returned positive. The players had returned positive just days before the start of IPL 2020. As of now, the BCCI officials have openly released a statement regarding the KKR camp. However, they are yet to opine officially about the cases in the CSK group.
