India's lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly ruled out of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 due to a back injury. The report suggests that he didn't travel to Tiruvananthpuram for the first T20I between India and South Africa. On the other hand, the Indian Cricket Board issued a statement saying that the right-arm pacer complained about back pain. This is the reason he didn't play the game.

Now, that it is reported that the Ahmedabad player will be ruled out, the team would be looking for replacements. After all, it is the 20-20 World Cup which they haven't won since 2007. Not to forget, the team missed a good death bowling option in the Asia Cup 2022. The 28-year-old missed the tournament due to the same injury. Meanwhile, in this listicle, we will have a look at three players who can replace Bumrah.

1. Mohammed Shami

The right-arm pacer is part of the squad as a reserve player alongside a few players. He last played a T20I in the 20-20 World Cup 2021. Since then, he hasn't played the shortest format for India.

However, given his spectacular performance with the ball for Gujarat in the Indian T20 League 2022, he might be considered. Also, his experience of playing at the highest level can't be discounted. He recently recovered from COVID19 and might be raring to go.

The right-arm swing bowler made his comeback to the team last month. For almost six months, he was ruled out due to various injuries. After coming back, the Rajasthan player has done well.

Also, not to forget, he made a strong comeback in the T20I game against South Africa in which he swing the ball both ways. One problem with him is his lack of ability to bowl in the death overs. Over the years, whether it is for Chennai in the Indian T20 League or the national setup, he tends to bowl out within the first 10 overs.

The Vidarbha player recently made his comeback in the shortest format after almost three years. He replaced Shami who tested positive for COVID19. The right-arm pacer played one game and got hammered by Australia.

However, on his given day, he can provide breakthroughs at the top-order. On the other hand, though, he needs to be bowled before the first 10 overs as he leaks runs in the death overs.
