The rescheduled fifth Test match between England and India is all set to go underway on the 1st of July. However, India’s star all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has not reached England yet. He has tested positive for Covid-19 and has been put under quarantine.

There is a possibility that he might miss out on the all-important match. Here are the players who can replace Ravichandran Ashwin in the squad if he misses out on the Test against England.

1. Shahbaz Nadeem

Shahbaz Nadeem has only played two Tests for India, but he is a veteran in domestic cricket. He has taken eight wickets in two Test matches played for India at an average of 34.1 and an economy rate of 3.57.

The left-arm orthodox player played his last game when England toured India in 2021. He might get replaced in the squad if Ashwin doesn’t get fit in time.

2. Jayant Yadav

Jayant Yadav has been around Indian cricket for almost six years now. He made his debut in 2016, but has never been able to book a permanent spot for himself in the team. He has always been in and out of the squad.

So far, the 32-year-old has played six games for India and has some good numbers. He has taken 16 wickets in his Test career, with an average of 29.1 and an economy rate of 3.38. He was last seen during India’s recent home Test series against Sri Lanka.
