Three records Rohit Sharma can break during IND vs SL T20I series

Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the skipper of the Indian team in all formats. He was announced as the skipper for India's Test team for the series against Sri Lanka. But, before the Test series, India will play a three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka. Lucknow will host the first match on the 24th of February.

Earlier, India whitewashed West Indies in a six-match white-ball series under Rohit's captaincy. They once again have a chance to repeat the same as Sri Lanka is not the toughest team to beat. Apart from this, Rohit Sharma has the opportunity to break some records in this series. Here is the list of records he can break.

Rohit Sharma is currently at the third spot in the list of highest run-scorers in the T20 format. He has 3263 runs in total and is behind Virat Kohli and Martin Guptil. The Kiwi batter has 3299 runs and is at the top of the list. The former Indian skipper has 3296 runs and is in second place.

Rohit Sharma just needs 37 runs to get at the top. With Virat resting for the series, he has a good opportunity of shattering this record.

Secondly, Rohit has taken over the full-time captaincy of Indian cricket recently, but he has been the vice-captain of the team for a while. He has stepped in to lead the side many times in Kohli's absence in the past and has scored a good number of runs.

Virat Kohli has the most runs as the Indian skipper with 1570 runs in 50 matches. MS Dhoni is just behind with 1112 runs in 72 games. Rohit Sharma has played 25 games and scored 937 runs. He now just needs 63 runs to get to the 1000 run mark as India's skipper in T20 cricket.

Rohit Sharma has had 122 appearances in T20 cricket. He is just behind the Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik, with 124 games in the shortest format. If everything goes well and Rohit Sharma plays all three games against Sri Lanka, he will cross the landmark of most appearances in T20 cricket.
