The BCCI has decided to host the remaining 31 matches of IPL in the UAE. The league had to get postponed because of the covid-19 outbreak in the secure bio-bubble. Thereby league has been shifted to UAE and would be held just before the 2021 T20 World Cup.
A few teams would have some added advantage with the shift in the location of the league. Some of the teams are as follow:
Mumbai Indians
The Mumbai Indians had secured a comfortable win last year when the league was held in UAE. Mumbai Indians had won their fifth title last year. They had easily topped the league stages and won the playoffs matches in UAE.
There are two main reasons why the Mumbai Indians favor the conditions in UAE. Firstly, the pitches in UAE are flatter which helps their finishers. Secondly, the conditions there provide an advantage to the pacers. On top of that, the new ball wicket in UAE also helps the Mumbai Indians. Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah had a good stint in UAE last season and had leveled up their death bowling game.
Delhi Capitals
Similar to Mumbai Indians, the Delhi Capitals would also take advantage of the seam-friendly conditions in the UAE. The Delhi Capitals would also welcome back Shreyas Iyer after his recovery from an injury. The team also has players like Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, and Prithvi Shaw in their top form.
The team is currently at the top of the league table. So far, they have registered six wins from eight games. With their players being in top form, the Delhi Capitals would look forward to performing well in UAE.
Punjab Kings
In the last season of IPL, the Punjab Kings went through extreme highs and lows. They register 6 defeats in their first seven matches but went on to win 5 matches after that. Then again, they lost the last two matches played and crashed out of the league. The never-give-up attitude of the team helped them register the victories and make a comeback.
In the 2021 season, the Punjab Kings have won 3 out of 8 matches. But they are expected to perform better in UAE with big hitters like Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran performing well in the pitches there. The seam-friendly pitches of UAE would also give an advantage to the pacers of the team.
