Cricket, often called the gentlemen's game, sometimes can get heated up in stressful game situations. The players who often seem calm and composed on the field have many a time lost their cool. While there are many instances of players sledging and having banter on the field, there are also instances of them using abusive language. Many players have also used unacceptable gestures. Here are the times when players showed middle finger on the ground.

Virat Kohli- 2012

In the 2012 Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) Test, Virat Kohli was fielding near the boundary. In front of a rowdy Australian audience, he gave them the middle finger. Photographers in the area captured the action. The mob, according to Kohli, was chanting insults against his family. The images of the same had gone viral all over the internet. Years later the veteran cricketer admitted that he may have gone too far with the gesture in the heat of the moment.

Things got out of hand in a match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022, when Sohail Tanvir and Ben Cutting revived an old feud. Cutting was seen aggressively flashing Tanvir the middle finger with both hands after crushing him for a six. In response, Sohail Tanvir gave him the finger as well. As it turns out, Tanvir had given Cutting the middle finger earlier in a game in the Caribbean Premier League.

In the opening game of Tamil Nadu Premier League 2022, Narayan Jagadeesan was Mankeded out by Baba Aparjith. The spirit of the game was called into question once more, and Jagadeesan gave his opponent the middle finger in anger. The opening batter admitted that his reaction came out of frustration. He then took to Twitter to issue an apology letter to all the viewers. "It is very hard for me to digest how I reacted," he wrote in his apology letter.
