India are on the brink of a revamp, given that they failed to win the Asia Cup 2022, 20-20 World Cup 2022 and bilateral series as well. To add more, the Men in Blue announced the squad for the T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka set to get underway on January 3. Hardik Pandya, the star Indian allrounder might begin his stint as the permanent vice-captain of team India in 2023.
On the other hand, the new selection committee would look to revamp the Indian squad and sort things ahead of the 50-over World Cup to be played in India in 2023. While the squad for the Sri Lanka series was selected by the already existing selection committee, 2023 could be the start of something new for team India.
As things stand, here are the three uncapped players who could make their debut for team India:
1) Abhimanyu Easwaran
Abhimanyu Easwaran, an undisputed star in the domestic circuit, is yet to make his debut and he could as well make his first appearance for team India in the longest format of the game in the approaching year, given that the player has been knocking on the doors of the selectors of late.
To add more, the batter has gathered 5577 runs at an average of 45.3 in the FC format and 3376 runs in the One-Day format at an average of 46.2 in the domestic arena. If at all Easwaran makes his debut, it could come as a turning point for the Indian team and might set things up for the future.
2) Shivam Mavi
Shivam Mavi, the allrounder who was a part of the Indian U-19 squad for the World Cup in 2018, finally made it to the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka and the player might make his debut in the series, as the Indian team are in desperate need of sheer pace.
Known for his ability to bowl fast spells and bat lower down the order, Mavi could come as a potential replacement for Hardik Pandya in the future, although one could argue that it is a long way away from the present. Fans, on the other hand, would hope for the best from the young Indian allrounder in 2023.
3) Rajat Patidar:
Rajat Patidar is yet to make his debut for team India in either of the formats and the cricketer has been impressive in the domestic arena, attracting fans from all parts of the world. His debut, however, is the most awaited one of all the three listed and it might as well happen in the approaching year.
To add more to his records in the domestic circuit, the batter has gathered over 3300 runs in the FC format at an average of 46.30 and averages around 34 in the One-Day format as well. It remains to be seen if Patidar could make his first appearance, although one could argue that it will be a wait for the same.
