Tim Paine stepped down as Australia's Test captain after being involved in a sexting scandal. During the Ashes Test in Brisbane in 2017, Paine reportedly texted images of his genitals to Renee Ferguson, a former Cricket Tasmania employee. Paine, who was recently called to the court, claimed that the woman who accused him sent him inappropriate texts. It has been understood that Ferguson did not submit the entire text and blamed Paine for harassing her.
Cricket Tasmania, in a report, mentioned that Ferguson had not shared the entire conversation. The report also revealed the texts Pain sent. "Will you want to taste my d**?? F**k me, I’m seriously h***," he wrote.
During the text exchange with Paine, Ferguson sent him very 'explicit' texts, according to Cricket Tasmania. In addition to the statement, Paine stated that the exchange included more than 20 to 30 texts. Paine added that Ferguson refrained from telling the whole story while submitting the court filings, making it 'incomplete and misleading.'
The Daily Mail reported Cricket Tasmania admitting, "The applicant’s text messages to Mr. Paine escalated such that they contained highly sexualized and explicit sexual content." The two parties attempted to settle the dispute through negotiations, which failed. The case will now be heard again in Federal Court on May 10, and the judge has already warned the parties that the hearing may include "complex medical questions."
Aside from the case at hand, Ferguson had also been accused of stealing, which she denied in a separate instance. Her employment with Cricket Tasmania was immediately terminated as a result of this.
