New Zealand senior fast bowler Tim Southee has achieved a new milestone on Day 5 of the WTC final between India and NZ. The 32-year-old is not only known for his bowling milestones but has also steadily climbed up the batting charts when it comes to hitting sixes in the longest format of the game. Tim Southee slammed to huge sixes against India in the first innings of the World Test Championship final. He hit Ishant Sharma for a six straight over the pacer's head, and then he smashed Jadeja for the second into the mid-wicket stand before getting out for a 46-ball 30.

Tim Southee now has 75 sixes in 79 Test matches

With those two tremendous sixes, Tim Southee now has 75 sixes in 79 Test matches. The 32-year-old is now three sixes away from MS Dhoni's tally of 78 sixes. Overall, Tim Southee is in the 15th position. This is a massive accomplishment for a cricketer who is recognized for his bowling and not batting skills. The list of maximum sixes in Test format is headed by Tim Southee's former captain Brendon McCullum. The veteran has hit 107 sixes in 101 matches.

Tim Southee has now hit more maximums in Test cricket than Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar, AB de Villiers, Clive Lloyd, Ian Botham, Sanath Jayasurya, and several other greats of the game.

On Day 5, Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson (16-ball 21) helped push New Zealand's first innings total to 249. Earlier, Kane Williamson came up with a brilliant knock of 49 runs. Devon Conway and Tom Latham had also formed a 70-run opening partnership to give New Zealand a great start. After having headed into Stumps on Day 3 on 101 for 2, the Kiwis lost 3 wickets in the first session. Kane Williamson held the innings together before Tim Southee, and Kyle Jamieson added some quick runs towards the end. For team India, Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers. The senior Indian pacer scalped 4 wickets to help India limit damage after having posted only 217 runs.

Both teams will share the ICC WTC title and the World Test Championship maze if the match ends as a draw. India and New Zealand will also share the prize money.
