Pakistan are currently busy playing the two-match Test series against the Kiwis at their home. After losing the home Test series by 3-0, Babar Azam and his men were looking to do well this time around. But, in the last few days, several changes occurred within the Pakistan Cricket Board. On 21 December 2022, the Pakistan Cricket Board sacked Ramiz Raja from the Chairman post of the PCB.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Shariff approved Najam Sethi’s appointment as the new PCB Chairman. Najam Sethi also shared a tweet and wrote: “The cricket regime headed by Ramiz Raja @iramizraja is no more. The 2014 PCB constitution stands restored. The Management Committee will work tirelessly to revive first-class cricket. Thousands of cricketers will be employed again. The famine in cricket will come to an end.” But, now on his official YouTube channel named Ramiz Speaks during a live fan forum, Ramiz Raja finally opened up about the whole matter.

“There should be no political interference in cricket” - Ramiz Raja

While talking about the matter, Ramiz Raja said that there should be no political interference in cricket. He also accused the Board of making adjustments just to appoint Najam Sethi as the Chairman post. He said: “ There should be no political interference in cricket. To appoint Najam Sethi, you changed the whole constitution of the PCB.”

He also spoke about the appointment of Shahid Afridi as the new interim chief selector for the New Zealand series. “Just to adjust him - I have not seen this anywhere else in the world. There is a way to do things. That too in the middle of the season, when teams were coming. Then you changed the chief selector,” Ramiz added.

“Then he is tweeting at 2 AM that Ramiz Raja has been removed, congratulate me…I have played Test cricket, and this is my playing field. It hurts. It feels like some messiah has come who will do some great things, although we know what their real motives are. They are not here for the advancement or development of cricket. They are here just to somehow get into the limelight. They have nothing to do with the cricket,” Ramiz Raja concluded.
