The first-ever day-night Test was played in 2015 between Australia and New Zealand. Earlier, Test matches would start early morning and end before the evening. But International Cricket Council(ICC) permitted day/night Test matches in 2012.

The first-ever day-night Test was played in 2015 between Australia and New Zealand. So far, major cricketing nations have played 16 day-night Test matches.

Devendra Bishoo

West Indies spinner Devendra Bishoo picked 10 wickets for 174 runs during a day-night Test. The first encounter of the three-match tests series between Pakistan and West Indies was a day-night Test. In that Test, Pakistan had put 579 runs on board at the loss of three wickets. Devendra Bishoo had managed to take 2 wickets in that innings for 125 runs.

In the first innings, West Indies were bowled out for 357 runs and Pakistan had a 222 runs lead. But in the 2nd innings, Pakistan had been bowled out for 123 runs as Bishoo took 8 wickets for just 49 runs.

The West Indies had a 346 run target but they fell 56 runs short of the required total. Pakistan won that Test series in UAE in 2016 but Devendra Bishoo earned a lot of limelight for his impressive performance in the day-night Test match.

Pat Cummins

Australian pacer Pat Cummins recorded a 10/6 2 bowling figure against Sri Lanka in early 2019. The first game of Sri Lanka’s tour of Australia was a day-night Test.

Sri Lanka was bowled out for just 144 runs in the first innings and Pat Cummins took 4 wickets for 39 runs. In response, Australia made 323 runs at the loss of 10 wickets in the first innings.

In the second innings, Cummins picked up 6 wickets for 23 runs, and Sri Lanka was bowled out for 139 runs. Thereby, Australia won the match by an innings and 40 runs. Pat Cummins was the player of the match for his stint in that Test. He is also the number one Test bowler in the world according to ICC rankings.
