Shikhar Dhawan’s brilliant knock of 92 helped Delhi Capitals emerge victorious against Punjab Kings in IPL 2021. Batting first, Punjab piled 195 runs on the board with a loss of 4 wickets. In reply, Delhi chased the total with 6 wickets in hand and 10 balls left. Owing to his brilliant batting performance, Dhawan was awarded the Man of the Match award. The DC opener has enjoyed a fair amount of success batting against Punjab in the past. That said, here are Dhawan’s 3 best knocks against Punjab in his IPL career:

1. 106*(61)

In a match between Delhi and Punjab in IPL 2020, Shikhar Dhawan sent Punjab’s bowlers to the cleaners. In just 61 balls, Dhawan blasted a total of 101 runs. His sublime innings featured a total of 13 fours and 3 huge sixes. Dhawan’s knock of 106 helped Delhi post a total of 164 to defend. However, Dhawan ended up on the losing side as Punjab chased the total with 6 balls to spare. Contributions from Nicholas Pooran and Glenn Maxwell helped Punjab cross the finishing line in a nail-biting encounter.

2. 95*(57)

Back in IPL 2011, Shikhar Dhawan was part of the Deccan Chargers. Playing against Punjab in IPL 2011, Dhawan smashed 95 runs off just 57 balls. Dhawan’s crucial innings featured a total of 14 fours and 1 six. Dhawan’s knock of 95 guided Deccan to a total of 198. In reply, Punjab were bowled out for just 116 runs. Deccan Chargers went on to win the match by a comprehensive margin of 82 runs. Owing to his exploits with the bat, Shikhar Dhawan was awarded the Man of the Match award.

Back in IPL 2017, Dhawan represented Sunrisers Hyderabad. In a match between Hyderabad and Punjab in IPL 2017, Dhawan exerted his dominance on Punjab’s bowlers. Shikhar Dhawan smashed 78 runs off just 44 balls. The Indian batsman also got support from SRH opener David Warner, who smashed 51 runs in just 27 balls. At the end of 20 overs, SRH had posted 207 runs with the loss of 2 wickets. In reply, Punjab could only muster 181 runs, with the loss of 8 wickets. Rashid Khan was instrumental in Punjab’s downfall, as he conceded just 16 runs in 4 overs. Rashid Khan’s exploits with the ball helped him win the Man of the Match award.
