This former India skipper has always shown great consistency with the bat in ODIs. As of now, Virat Kohli has played 268 matches for team India. He has scored 12754 runs in 259 innings, at an average of 58.23. He has smashed 64 fifties and 46 centuries so far. His overall strike rate has been 93.58.
His highest score is 183 against Pakistan in the 2012 Asia Cup. Currently, he has the highest number of centuries among the active players in the 50-over format. Only the Indian great Sachin Tendulkar has more centuries (49) than him. So, fans are hoping that he will be able to break that record in the upcoming matches.
Sanath Jayasuriya - 13430 runs
This legendary batter from Sri Lanka was a top-notch player in the white-ball formats. Sanath Jayasuriya played 445 matches for the Lankans. In those matches, he scored 13430 runs in 433 innings, at an average of 32.36. He smashed 68 fifties and 28 centuries. His overall strike rate was 91.20.
His highest score was 189 against India in the final of the 2000 Coca-Cola Champions Trophy final. Speaking of that match, Sri Lanka batted first and scored 299 runs for five wickets in 50 overs. But, in reply, the Men in Blue got bundled out for just 54 runs and lost that final by a huge margin of 245 runs.
Ricky Ponting - 13704 runs
This former World Cup-winning Aussie captain, Ricky Ponting was one of the top batters in the ODI format in the world. Ricky Ponting played 375 matches for Australia. He scored 13704 runs in 365 innings, at an average of 42.03. Ponting smashed 30 centuries and 82 fifties. His overall strike rate was 80.39.
His highest score was 164 runs against South Africa in 2006. Speaking of the match, Australia batted first and put up a solid total of 434 runs for four wickets in 50 overs. But, in reply, the Proteas showed a great class and chased down the target with one wicket and ball to spare in that match.
Kumar Sangakkara - 14234 runs
This wicketkeeper batter from Sri Lanka has always impressed his and Sri Lanka’s fans. Kumar Sangakkara played 404 matches for the Lankans. In those matches, Sangakkara scored 14234 runs in 380 innings, at an average of 41.98. His overall strike rate was 78.86. In the 2015 50-over World Cup in Australia, Sangakkara scored four World Cup hundreds in a row. He smashed 25 centuries and 93 fifties.
His highest score was 169 runs against South Africa. Speaking of the match, Sri Lanka batted first and score 299 runs for four wickets in 50 overs. But, in reply, all the Protea batters failed miserably and got bundled out for just 140 runs in 31.5 overs. Still now, Sangakkara is the second-highest run-scorer in ODIs behind only Sachin Tendulkar.
Sachin Tendulkar - 18426 runs
This legendary batter from team India had an incredible career in ODIs. Sachin Tendulkar played 463 matches for the Men in Blue. He scored 18426 runs in 452 innings, at an average of 44.83. His overall strike rate was 86.23 while Tendulkar smashed 49 centuries and 96 fifties. He is the highest run-scorer in the history of the 50-over format.
His highest score was 200* against South Africa in 2010 in Gwalior. It was the first time when a player scored a double century in the ODI format history. Speaking of the match, India scored 401 runs for three wickets in 50 overs. In reply, the Proteas got bundled out for 248 runs in 42.5 overs.
