The Indian Premier League 2020 ended with MI emerging victorious and winning their 5th IPL title. The Indian Premier League has always been host to some stellar performances at the individual level. However, there were some players who delivered way below expectations this year in the IPL. Here we look at 5 such players who might not get a contract in IPL 2021:
1. Kedhar Jadhav
Jadhav did not look comfortable at all with the bat in IPL 2020. When a player earns as much as 7.8 crores, you expect that he delivers some value. In 8 matches for CSK this season, Jadhav only managed to amass 62 runs. His awful strike rate of 93.93 clearly sums up his season.
2. Glenn Maxwell
Another major disappointment in the IPL 2020 was Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell is well known to smash balls out of the park with relative ease. However, this was not the case with his performance in IPL 2020. In 13 games, Maxwell managed to put up only 108 runs on the board. His below-par average of 22.13 clearly depicts that the Aussie cricketer was way below his best in IPL 2020.
Furthermore, Maxwell wasn’t fruitful even with the ball. In 126 balls, Maxwell only managed to pick 3 wickets in the entire IPL 2020. Clearly, Maxwell hasn’t lived up to his enormous price tag of 10.75 crores.
3. Jaydev Unadkat
Rajasthan Royals bought Unadkat for a whopping 11.5 crore prior to his superb outing with the Rising Pune Supergiants. However, he has failed to impress with the ball since then. With Jofra Archer a regular starter for RR, Unadkat is finding it difficult to get game time under this belt. Moreover, he only managed to pick 4 wickets in 7 matches in IPL 2020. This clearly outlines why the RR management does not back Unadkat to start for the team.
4. Andre Russell
Russell was on fire in IPL 2019. Amassing a total of 512 runs, he boasted an impressive strike rate of 204.81. Everyone expected Russell to go all blazing when entered the pitch this season. However, Russell was rather awful in IPL 2020. In 10 matches, he managed to score only 117 runs in total.
5. Harbhajan Singh
Last on the list is veteran spin bowler Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan skipped IPL 2020 due to some personal reason. Furthermore, his contract with CSK has also expired. The 40-year-old is in a race against time. With Bhajji unable to play IPL 13, it is unlikely that any IPL team will want to acquire his services.
