MI New York outplayed the Seattle Orcas in the final of the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket to create history. The two teams locked horns in the title clash at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. MINY won the flip of the coin and asked the Orcas to bat first. The Orcas posted a total of 184 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

New York won the match by a significant margin of 7 wickets, crossing the line in just 16 overs, thanks to a fantastic century by Caribbean star Nicholas Pooran while chasing the target. The stand-in skipper for MI in the final of the tournament played a swashbuckling knock of 137 runs off just 55 balls with 10 boundaries and 13 sixes.

Earlier, in the first innings, the veteran Proteas wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock played a blistering knock of 87 runs off just 52 balls with nine boundaries and 4 sixes. Trent Boult, the experienced pacemaker for MI, and Rashid Khan, the star spinner, each took 3 wickets. Steven Taylor and David Wiese also claimed one wicket each.

Nicholas Pooran’s sensational century outplayed Seattle Orcas

Speaking of MI’s run-chase, they faced an early blow only on the third ball of the first over when Imad Wasim trapped opener Steven Taylor on a length deliver. Following that, the two partnerships of 62 and 75 runs for the second and third wickets, helped them chase down the target only in 16 overs.

The only wicket-takers for Seattle Orcas were Imad Wasim and skipper Wayne Parnell, who picked one each. MI skipper and blistering batter Nicholas Pooran won the ‘Player of the Match award for his match-defining heroics in favour of his side.

With this win, devoted fans of the MI franchise, IPL's most successful team, could not contain their emotions. They took to Twitter to shower love for MI New York for winning the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket.
