After dismantling England in the first ODI by massive 10 wickets, India suffered a severe defeat against England in the second game on Thursday. England mirrored India's performance from the first ODI and came up with a sensational performance to win the game by a massive 100 runs. Let's look at how the game played out and how Twitter reacted.

After being asked to bat first, England got off to a decent start at first, with Jason Roy (23) and Jonny Bairstow improving massively from their first ODI scores. They, however, could not get to big scores as Roy was dismissed by Hardik Pandya on a team score of 41.

Joe Root and Bairstow steadied the innings together for a while before Bairstow was cleaned up by Yuzvendra Chahal. The spinner soon removed the next two batters successively on 82 and 87 to put England in a tough situation.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals before the lower end batters, Liam Livingstone (33), Moeen Ali (47) and David Willey (41) got England to a fighting total of 246 in 49 overs. While Jasprit Bumrah was the hero in the first ODI, Chahal was the standout performance on Thursday this with his four-wicket haul. Bumrah and Pandya with two wickets each

Coming on to chase what looked like a decent total on a tricky wicket, India started off very cautiously. In 2.4 overs, Indian batters had scored no runs from bat before Rohit Sharma was removed by Reece Topley at 0 (zero). Virat Kohli came in next and hit three fours to raise hopes of his comeback.

Shikhar Dhawan, who was playing very cautiously at the other end, was dismissed by Topley. A quick fall of three wickets, Dhawan (27-2), Rishabh Pant(29-3) and Virat Kohli (31-4) broke India’s back. Suryaumar Yadav (27) and Hardik Pandya tried to get India back into the game but a slow wicket and good English bowling did not allow them to open their arms.

A quickfire 23 from Mohammad Shami was too little and too late for India as they eventually lost by a massive 100 runs. Reece Topley, with a sensational bowling figure of 9.5-24-6, came up England's best bowling spell by a fast bowler at Lord's Cricket Ground.
