Punjab beat Bangalore by 54 runs to win the 60th encounter of the Indian T20 League 2022. During the first innings, A brilliant effort by the English duo of Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone helped the team set a massive total of 210. Following that, a perfect effort by the bowling attack of Punjab ensured that they register an easy victory.

Winning the toss, Bangalore decided to bowl first at the Brabourne Stadium. Jonny Bairstow then gave the men in red and gold a flying start. He started attacking the ball from the word go. Even after losing his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan (21) within the powerplay, the opener continued to score the big runs. He raced to his half-century and helped the team register the highest powerplay score of this season (83).

Bairstow scored 66 runs in 29 balls before falling to Shahbaz Ahmed in the 10th over for a team score of 101/3. After that, Liam Livingstone continued where Bairstow left off. While wickets kept falling on one end, the English all-rounder was going all-out. However, Harshal Patel's final over produced only four runs and three wickets. Livingstone scored 70 runs in 42 balls. In the end, Punjab scored 209/9 in the first innings.

Bangalore now needed a quick start in the chase of a big target. However, wickets at regular intervals put Bangalore in a tough spot. They lost three wickets within the powerplay as Rishi Dhawan and Kagiso Rabada struck early. They scored 44 runs in the first six overs. Bangalore's wickets continued to fall on a regular basis, and they were unable to form any effective partnerships. Rajat Patidar (26) and Glenn Maxwell (35) tried their best but couldn't do much.

After losing six wickets, Bangalore needed 90 runs to win in five overs. Rabada and Rahul Chahar joined hands to pick two wickets and 17 runs in the following two overs. In the end, Bangalore lost another wicket. Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj held on to the final wicket. With the win, Punjab moved to sixth place in the points table.
