The much-awaited Asia Cup 2023 has kicked off with the inaugural clash of the tournament between the hosts Pakistan and the new entrants Nepal. Both teams are playing the tournament opener at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. Meanwhile, the fans also witnessed some special moments before the start of the match.

In the same line of events, a Nepali singer also performed before both the teams took the ground for the action. She also sang a song, which was loved by the fans on social media. Notably, it is for the first time in the history of the Asia Cup that Nepal have qualified for this marquee continental championship.

Nepal are grouped with India and Pakistan in Group 1 of the tournament, following the first match against Pakistan, they will take on India in their second match at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on Monday, September 4. Interestingly, Nepal have emerged as one of the promising teams in international cricket in the last couple of years.

Nepal give some early blows to Pakistan

Talking about cricket, the inaugural encounter between Pakistan and Nepal is underway as the men in green are batting first after the skipper Babar Azam decided to bat first after winning the toss. In the current action of the match, Babar’s men have scored 105 runs for the loss of two wickets in 22.4, having skipper Babar Azam himself and star wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, there in the middle. Both are batting on the individual scores of 41 and 39 runs, respectively.

Karan KC has scalped one wicket for Nepal, alongside one run-out of Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq by the skipper Rohit Paudel in the 7th over of the match.

Speaking of Pakistan, they will lock horns in the highly anticipated iconic clash against the arch-rivals, India on Saturday, September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
