'Tu apne mann ki hee karega bhai' – Munaf Patel trolls Gautam Gambhir over Lucknow's team name

The upcoming fifteenth edition of the Indian T20 League (ITL) 2021 is all set to feature two new teams, i.e. Lucknow and Ahmedabad. However, the name of the Lucknow franchise, which is owned by the RP Sanjiv Goenka group, is yet to be disclosed. There have been several speculations regarding it, and the franchise is expected to disclose its name soon.

However, the Uttar Pradesh-based franchise started an online contest named “Naam Banao Naam Kamao”. In this contest, the fans have been given an opportunity to come up with a name for the side which will make its debut in the 2022 edition of the league. After the franchise dropped a hint, several fans thought that the contest was over, and Lucknow already have a name for their team.

However, their team mentor Gautam Gambhir, through a post, confirmed that the suggestions for a new name were still open. The former Indian batter shared a video on social media where he asked everyone for their final thoughts before they announce the name.

“Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost…. 👀Participate now: www.officiallucknowiplteam.com,” read Gautam Gambhir's caption to the post. However, his former teammate Munaf Patel commented on his post, and went on to troll him.

“Tu apne mann ki hee karega bhai 😂😂😂” read Munaf Patel's reply. The tweet meant that no matter what names or ideas are suggested, the 40-year-old would only go ahead with his own call. Thus, several cricket fans liked and replied to Patel's reply, and chuckled at his witty sense of humour.

It is to be noted that both of them were a part of India's successful 50-over World Cup campaign in 2011. Nevertheless, there has been a lot of buzz about the new franchise. With the mega auction expected to happen next month, there is a huge chance of the Lucknow franchise announcing their name in the next few days. Gambhir was roped in as team mentor for Lucknow recently.
