In a delightful piece of news for the Indian cricket team and the Indian fans, they have qualified for the much-anticipated final of the Test Championship 2023; owing to the thrilling win of New Zealand against Sri Lanka in the just-concluded Christchurch Test. Interestingly, the Kiwis won this thriller on the last ball of the fifth day of the match.

It was the former skipper and batting superstar Kane Williamson who firmly stood as a difference between the win and the Sri Lankan team. He played an amazing unbeaten knock of 121 runs off 194 balls with 11 boundaries and a six to his credit.

Other than him, the star middle-order batter Daryl Mitchell also contributed with an individual score of 81 runs off 86 balls with three boundaries and four sixes with the wood. A section of the Indian cricket fans was also elated and ecstatic following this thrilling win of New Zealand and India’s qualification to the final of Test Championship 2023.

They took to Twitter and reacted with a lot of interesting responses; fans also lavished the praise on the former Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson and New Zealand as well.

Speaking of the entire action of the Christchurch Test between New Zealand and Sri Lanka; the hosts won the toss and asked Dimuth Karunaratne’s men to bat first. Batting first, the visitors posted a total of 355 runs in the first innings courtesy of an 87-run knock by Kusal Mendis alongside skipper Karunaratne’s half-century (50 runs), 47 and 46 runs from Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva respectively.

New Zealand took lead in the first innings by scoring 373 runs, thanks to Daryl Mitchell’s century of 102 runs and senior opener Tom Latham’s individual contribution of 67 runs.

Later on, Sri Lanka happened to post a target of 285 runs for New Zealand by scoring 302 runs in the second innings.

While chasing the target in the second innings, New Zealand chased down the total in 70 overs; owing to the brilliant and historic century by former skipper Kane Williamson (121 runs) alongside Daryl Mitchell’s 81 runs.
