On 1 November 2022, New Zealand took on England at the Gabba in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup. It was a vital game in the context of the World Cup campaign for both teams. However, it was more important for England as they needed to win it to keep their hopes alive for the semi-finals.

However, Australian fans were hoping for a defeat for Jos Buttler and his men. That result can boost their chances to get qualified for the semi-finals. Speaking about the match, England won the toss and they choose to bat first. Skipper Jos Buttler and Alex Hales came out to open the innings.

Kane Williamson has scored 71 runs so far in the World Cup with a strike rate of 93.42

England's openers looked in good touch as they stitched a solid partnership of 81 runs in 10.2 overs. Alex Hales scored 52 runs off 40 balls, including seven fours and one six. Skipper Jos Buttler also scored 73 runs off 47 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. Other batters came up with some contributions as England posted 179 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. For New Zealand, Lockie Ferguson took two wickets for 45 runs in his four overs. In reply, Finn Allen and Devon Conway came out to open the innings for the Kiwis. But, England's bowlers took the first on just eight runs.  

Then, the Kiwi skipper, Kane Williamson came out to bat at the number three position. In this World Cup, Williamson has faced issues with his trike rate. He even failed to contribute significantly with the bat. So, fans were hoping for a good score from Kane Williamson. But, he managed 40 runs off 40 balls, at a strike rate of 100. In his innings, Williamson managed only three fours. Along with him, Glenn Phillips scored 62 runs off 36 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes. But, England managed to win the match by 20 runs. After this match, KL Rahul has scored 71 runs at an average of 23.66 so far in the World Cup. But, his overall is just 93.42 which has not impressed fans at all. So, after another slow innings against England, fans have slammed Kane Williamson on social media platforms.
