India vs Pakistan

India completely dominated the biggest cricketing rivalry against the arch-rivals Pakistan and won the super-4 match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 by a massive margin of 228 runs. In one of the rarest moments in ODI history, the match lasted for two days as the scheduled day was washed off due to rain which forced both the teams to play on the reserved day.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and asked the Indians to bat first. The men in blue got a strong foundation as the opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and his young partner Shubman Gill stitched an amazing partnership of 121 runs for the first wicket. Then came the moment when India lost two wickets in consecutive overs and got 2 wickets lost on the score of 123 runs.

Then onwards, the experienced duo of former skipper Virat Kohli and veteran batter KL Rahul took charge for India. They completely outplayed the mighty bowling attack of Pakistan and made an unbeaten partnership of 233 runs for the third wicket and helped India to post a big total of 356 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Virat Kohli's record-breaking knock with a comeback chores from KL Rahul outmuscled Pakistan

Virat Kohli scored his career’s 47th ODI century, he contributed with a knock of 122 runs off just 94 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes; on the other hand, KL Rahul also stunned everyone with his impressive comeback for Team India, he scored his career’s 6th ODI century and contributed with 111 runs, including 12 fours and 2 sixes.

While defending the target, the Indian bowlers had complete domination over the Pakistan batters; they bundled up the men in green only on the score of 128 runs in 32 overs. Opener Fakhar Zaman, and middle-order batters, Agha Salman and Iftikhar Ahmed were the only three batters for Pakistan to cross the individual mark of 20+ runs. Fakhar scored 27 runs, alongside 23 runs each by Salman and Iftikhar.

Kuldeep Yadav emerged as the man of the hour for India as he claimed an excellent 5-fer, scalping 5 wickets, alongside one wicket each picked by Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, and Hardik Pandya.

Eventually, India registered the victory by a mammoth margin of 228 runs to start their super-4 runs with a win; Virat Kohli won the ‘Player of the Match for his match-defining century for the seven-time Asia Cup champions.
