Southern Brave and Trent Rockets went head-on in the 25th match of the Hundred 2022 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. Batting first, the Trent Rockets did not have the best start as they lost a couple of early wickets. Alex Hales (eight) and Tom Kohler-Cadmore (eight) were both dismissed for low scores.
Dawid Malan, however, played a great knock to stabilize things for his team. He built an important partnership of 51 runs along with Samit Patel (21). The Brave, however, emerged on top as they got rid of Patel for a team score of 90 in 68 balls.
Meanwhile, the opener maintained his excellent form and reached his half-century. While the Rockets lost a few more wickets, Malan scored 59 runs in 41 balls. He contributed to the team's total of 138/6 in their allotted 100 balls. Michael Hogan and James Fuller each took two wickets for the Brave, while Paul Stirling and Jake Lintott each took one.
The Brave had a similar start to their chase as the Rockets. They lost two early wickets, putting them in a difficult situation. Star opener Paul Stirling and captain James Vince both went for ducks, reducing the team to 9/2 in 14 balls. Quinton de Kock (24), on the other hand, continued to perform well but was dismissed forΒ a score of 52.
After that, the partnership of Alex Davies and Ross Whiteley saved the sinking ship of the braves. The two played admirably to get the team in a comfortable position. The pair scored 71 runs in their partnership, with Davies going on to score 51 and Whitely scoring 30.
In the end, it was Tim David's (19) cameo that helped the team cross the finish line. The Southern Brave defeated Trent Rockets by six wickets and five balls to spare. They ensured their survival in the competition with this victory. The Brave currently stand in sixth place with three wins in seven games. On the other hand, the Rockets are in second place with five wins in seven games.
