Delhi beat Kolkata by 44 runs to win their second game of the season. Kolkata chose to bowl first after winning the toss at the Brabourne Stadium. Prithvi Shaw and David Warner had the perfect start to the innings as they exploded right from the start. The two went on to add 93 runs for the first wicket before Shaw fell for a score of 51 in 29 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes. Varun Chakravarthy got the breakthrough for Kolkata in the 9th over.
David Warner continued to play the attacking shots as he reached his fifty with a six on a slower ball from Andre Russell in the 13th over. In the meantime, Rishabh Pant scored a quick cameo off 27 runs in 14 balls. He hit two sixes and two fours before Andre Russell dismissed him in the 13th over. Kolkata then picked three consecutive wickets in four overs, including that of David Warner. He scored 61 runs in 45 balls with six boundaries and two sixes.
Axar Patel (22 runs in 14 balls) and Shardul Thakur (29 runs in 11 balls) finished the innings to take Delhi to a huge total of 215. Sunil Narine took two wickets in the innings while Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Andre Russell got a wicket each.
Chasing the huge target, Kolkata needed an explosive start, but that was not the case. They got 43 runs in the powerplay and lost two wickets in the process. Khaleel Ahmed got rid of both the openers, Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane. Nitish Rana and Shreyas Iyer looked good for the 3rd wicket partnership and added 69 runs together before Rana was dismissed by Lalit Yadav in the 12th over. He played a short inning of 30 runs in 20 balls, hitting three sixes.
Shreyas Iyer hit a six in the next over to get to his half-century, but Kuldeep Yadav got rid of him on the next ball. He scored 54 runs in 33 balls with five fours and two sixes. The wicket of Iyer meant that Kolkata's chances took a massive dip. They kept on losing wickets and suffered a crushing defeat.

3 of KKR's weakness came back to haunt them today vs Delhi Capitals:
- Non-explosive start from the openers/failed to work as a unit again
- Inconsistent middle-order
- Poor death bowlingKKR better try to rectify these, next game in 5 days time!#KKRvsDC #CricketTwitter

That’s a good a set of 4 overs in T20 as you will see from Sunil Narine !! Fast outfield , Not huge boundaries & bowling on a Road .. 2 for 21 !!! as good as it gets … #IPL2022 @KKRiders
