Gujarat beat Rajasthan by 37 runs to top the points table after 24 games. Winning the toss, Rajasthan decided to bowl first at the DY Patil Stadium. Gujarat did not have the best start as they lost Matthew Wade and Vijay Shankar early on. Wade was run out by a direct hit from Rassie van der Dussen in the second over, and Vijay Shankar sloppily lost his wicket to Kuldeep Sen in the third over. Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill were on the back foot after two early dismissals and reached 42 in the powerplay. Gill, could not hold on to his wicket longer as he was dismissed by Riyan Parag in the 7th over. Gujarat was at 53 for a loss of three wickets at this point.

Pandya and Abhinav Manohar then played the conservative game for a while before attacking after the 12th over. They added 86 runs for the fourth wicket partnership. Manohar then departed after adding 43 runs in 28 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes. Yuzvendra Chahal took the wicket in the 16th over to get rid of him. Miller then walked in and started attacking from the word go. He played the perfect cameo towards the end. The two added 53 runs on the board for the fifth wicket partnership. Pandya's second-highest score in the tournament of 87 runs in 52 balls (eight fours and four sixes) and Miller's score of 31 runs in 14 balls (five fours and one six) helped Gujarat reach 192 runs in the first innings.

Chasing a daunting total, Jos Buttler turned on the beast mode with a flurry of boundaries. However, Devdutt Padikkal lost his wicket to Yash Dayal on the first ball he faced. However, Rajasthan had a fruitful powerplay and added 65 runs. However, on the last ball of the powerplay, they lost Buttler. Buttler scored 54 runs in 24 balls, hitting eight four and three sixes.

The run out of Sanju Samson soon after dented Rajasthan's chances. The team could never recover and could only manage 155-9 in 20 overs.
