Hyderabad beat Kolkata by seven wickets to win their third game in a row. Hyderabad won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Brabourne Stadium. Kolkata did not have the start they would have wanted as they lost both their openers early on. Aaron Finch fell to Marco Jansen in the 2nd over while T Natarajan bowled Venkatesh Iyer in the 5th over. Sunil Narine, batting at number four, fell in the same over by Natarajan. With Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana at the crease, Kolkata reached 38 runs in the powerplay.
The duo cruised for a bit and added 39 runs for the fourth wicket partnership. Umran Malik got rid of Iyer (28 runs in 25 balls) on the last ball of the 10th over for a team score of 70. Sheldon Jackson and Nitish Rana added 33 runs before Jackson fell. AT 103-5, Kolkata was in trouble. However, Rana kept the innings momentum alive. He scored 54 runs in 36 balls, with six fours and two sixes before departing in the 18th over by Natarajan. Andre Russell, on the other hand, played a brisk inning of 49 as well, helping Kolkata reach 175-8 in 20 overs.
Chasing a big target, Hyderabad once again had a slow start in the powerplay as they scored 46 runs and lost two wickets. Abhishek Sharma was bowled out by Cummins in the second over while Kane Williamson was bowled by Andre Russell in the sixth over. Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram then took complete control of the game. They batted sensibly together and did not take unwanted risks. Tripathi (71) raced to his half-century in 21 balls to put Hyderabad in front. He got good support from Aiden Markram, who too went on to score a half-century (68). The Tripathi-Markram duo added 94 runs in the innings and almost sealed the game for the team. The formalities were completed by Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran.

Anyone can beat a team at the bottom of the table but it requires great guts to beat the table toppers and @SunRisers Tripathi and Markram showed plenty of it.#SRHvsKKR#TATAIPL #IPL #IPL2022

That is a smashing win from SRH, managed to win thrice in a row with exposing their weak link in the batting, Shashank Singh & tonight without Washi's bowling.. #IPL2022 #SRHvsKKR

SRH team played at a different gear today thanks to the blistering knock if Rahul Tripathy. Normally 170+ will be a challenging score for SRH,but today SRH played aggressive and positive brand of cricket.Varun Chakraborty missed the expertise of DK behind the stunps.#SRHvsKKR

#SRHvsKKR Cummins customary 40 runs per match. I was worried he wouldn't get there.
