In a rain-interrupted game, Hosts chased a revised target within 31.4 overs to win their first ODI series against England in the last 25 years. This victory also marks the redemption of West Indies cricket, which failed to qualify for the recently concluded ODI World Cup in 2023.

Earlier, in the game, West Indies skipper Shai Hope won the toss and opted to bowl first. His decision went well with the team, as England lost five wickets in the first powerplay. Pacer Matthew Ford dismissed openers Will Zacks (17), Phil Salt (4), and Zak Crawley (0). Apart from them, Harry Brook was run out, while Alzarri Joseph dismissed skipper Jos Buttler for a duck.

After their departure, Ben Duckett, along with Liam Livingston, added 88 runs for the sixth wicket. Duckett, in his inning, scored 71 runs off 73 balls with the help of six fours and a six. Meanwhile, Livingston, in his inning, scored 45 runs off 56 balls with the help of two fours and as many sixes. In the end, their knock helped England post 206/9 in 40 overs. For the West Indies, Ford and Joseph took three wickets each, while Romario Shepherd got two wickets.

The West Indies outplayed England in the run chase

Chasing a tricky total The West Indies got off to a shaky start as they lost opener Brandon King in the first. However, after his departure, Alick Athanaze and Keacy Carty added 76 runs for the second wicket. Athanaze, in his innings, scored 45 runs off 51 balls with the help of seven boundaries. Meanwhile, Carty scored 50 runs off 58 balls with the help of five fours and a six.

After their departure, the West Indies felt a shock as their middle order, including skipper Shai Hope, failed to put up a show. The game was looking interesting before all-rounders Romario Shepherd and Matthew Ford added unbeaten 56 runs for the seventh wicket. Shepherd, in his innings, scored 41 runs off 28 balls with the help of three fours and as many sixes.

On the other hand, Ford, in his inning, scored 13 runs off 16 balls with the help of a boundary. For England, Will Jacks took three wickets, while Gus Atkinson got two scalps. It's worth noting that this is the West Indies' first ODI series victory against England in the last 25 years. This also marks their comeback in international cricket after a setback earlier this year.
